Dr. Dana Haaf MD CCFP
|
Originally from Nakusp BC, Dr. Dana Haaf moved to the North Shore upon completion of high school. He went on to an undergraduate degree in Kinesiology at Simon Fraser University and matriculated his medical degree at the University of British Columbia. Dr. Haaf began his practice in 2005 and has been with the North Shore Medical Group ever since. Dr. Haaf is one of the few remaining family physicians on the North Shore that has a full service practice. In addition to his thriving full-time family practice at the NSMG, he has full hospital privileges at Lions Gate Hospital, providing the broad spectrum of cradle to grave medicine, including obstetrics, medical care, and palliative care at North Shore Hospice, as well as long term residential care across the North Shore. Among his clinical and academic appointments, Dr. Haaf is the current chair of the Lions Gate Hospital Physician Engagement Society, he is a standing member of the LGH GP M&M committee and he is the past president of the Lions Gate Hospital Medical Staff, as well as past member of the LGH Foundation. Dr. Haaf is also a member of the clinical faculty with the UBC medical school.
Dr. Haaf finds it hard to narrow down what he likes most about being a GP. He enjoys his patients—having a privileged role in assisting with their physical and mental well being; he has been enthusiastic about teaching family practice residents and medical students for the past fifteen years, as well as being a part of a highly functional, diversely skilled, and collegial group of physicians. When not at work he makes time for skiing, fitness, golf, and is an avid hiker and reader.
