|
Dr. Susan T. Chow was born and raised in the Seymour area on the North Shore. She completed her Bachelor of Science Degree in Cell Biology and her Medical Doctorate at the University of British Columbia followed by a rotating internship at the Ottawa General Hospital and five years of locum tenens work in Ontario and British Columbia. Dr. Chow has many deep connections to the residents of the North Shore with her father having taught at a local high school and her mother having worked as a nurse at Lions Gate Hospital. She has decided very deliberately to give back to the community that has supported her and began her private Family Medicine practice in North Vancouver on July 1, 1997. Dr. Chow has been with the North Shore Medical Group since April 2014 and is proud to offer continuity of care through a full-service General Practice including obstetrics, family medicine, hospital work, OR assists, nursing homes, palliative care and hospice. She feels it is an honour to be connected with each and every one of the patients in her practice and to work in conjunction with them to achieve improved health and well being.
In her time away from the office, she has provided volunteer medical care in Papua New Guinea, India and Vietnam. She is on the board of the K2 Charity Foundation that provides care to HIV, TB and palliative care patients in Malawi. In her youth, she was a competitive gymnast and recreational coach. She previously worked in North Shore group residences with individuals with severe mental and physical disabilities. In her spare time, Dr. Chow enjoys playing the piano, gardening, knitting, sewing, yoga, camping, exercising, travelling and spending time with her husband and two sons.
